Description
Art by Duy Truong.....................We walked along the trail for another hour or so and we came upon the village near a river. We marched by a thousand warriors, squaws, and children into the center of the camp. Cochise was surrounded by his next-in-command braves. Cochise said, "Cochise has waited for this prophesied moment and welcomes you into his arms as a brother." He embraced Tom Jeffords.
Tom returned the embrace. He said, "I wish that we find peace for you and the white man. We can begin with a small token of friendship and from there let it grow into from a seed into a great towering oak." He introduced us and soon we were all on good terms. The villagers surrounded us and listened to our every word. In that a white man spoke their language was proof that he was the Peace Maker and soon they regarded me with high esteem. They named me Little Flower.
