Lucinda cast a spell—a bolt of energy. Catherine was stunned from this and landed on her back on the cobblestone. Lucinda gathered herself for another charge and Catherine met it head on with a bolt of her own. Back and forth it went, each conjuring up a spell and counter-spell that propelled both back and forth across the square.
