Francis Brundage was born Frances Isabelle Lockwood on June 28, 1854 in Newark, New Jersey. Her father did wood engravings, painted church murals, and portraits. She learned art from her father and sold her first professional work to Louisa Amy Alcott, an author. She is noted for her depiction of children and became one of the notable artists of her time. She did many books covers and these were often sold as postcards.
This is a Samuel Gabriel and Sons Postcard published 1910.

Durch solche Motive die ich als Kind bewundert habe bin ich zur Malerei gekommen. Danke für diese schöne Erinnerung.

You are so welcome Reynold. I apologize for rambling, but your artwork has so much to offer and talk about. I appreciate that you appreciate my impressions and expressions. 💕Janet

Fabulous restoration work Reynold. What a beautiful piece, and lovely story the artwork tells. It's the month of February, and the young lady has a love letter in her hand. She has either just received it and is being discreet about it, or perhaps is going to be delivering it to her love. Either way she has it behind her. Perhaps she has read it, and her affections are not returned, hence her maid servant consoling her or wondering what's wrong. Your artwork tells a beautiful, heARTfelt story. Reynold, always a pleasure to drink in your wonderful talented artwork. LvFv Janet💕
