Description
The Wurtherington Diary: The California Gold Rush art by Duy Truong
The fifty marshals rode up in a cloud of dust. "Whoa! Where did they go?" said Captain Clint Hollister.
I said, "They are not the men you are looking for. Wait one minute and you can arrest Jessie Cole for murder."
"What is that giant bird we keep seeing?"
"That is one of my special deputies. You met her when I was in your office."
"You must feed her well." He laughed.
Jessie Cole came riding up at a furious pace. "Jessie Cole, you are under arrest!" said Captain Clint Hollister. "Throw down your gun and give yourself up!" Fifty guns were pointed at Cole. He saw that it was hopeless.
He raised his hands. "What happened to my men?"
I said, "They told me that they quit!"
"Gett'm men!" said Captain Clint Hollister.
They wrangled him to the ground and tied his hands. I signaled Polly and and she came swooping into the camp. "Ouch! Hey take it easy!" said the gang as they were dragged along the rocky terrain.
