Dear Diary,
The evening of the church social arrived and everyone in town was there. Cody and Hickok were there to be sure no one cut in on Tom's dancing with Anne. The pair was the hit of the dance floor.
Zeke, Cedric, Polly, and Alfred figured they could call one of the square-dances. Zeke played a banjo and Cedric played the fiddle.
"Come on everybody gather 'round.
Put your two feet on the ground.
Swing your partner, every which way;
And plan to do what I say!
This is Tucson where we dance,
Where your magic feet can prance.
Let's dance all night and come what may.
You'll find a gal before she gets away!"
Zeke said, "I kind of like this. They do everything we tell'em to do!"
Cedric said, "You got to be careful what we say or we'll have them dancing out in the street."
Alfred said, "While you two are talkin' everyone wonders what's next. Let's move this along!"
Zeke said, "Right, boss."
They sang,
"Move to the left , move to the right.
Keep a movin', we'll dance all night.
Come on girls don't you hide;
Cause one day you'll be a bride.
Promenade left then promenade right.
Don't let that girl get out of sight.
Swing your partner and allemande right
Hold that gal, oh so tight!"
