Description
The Wurtherington Diary: Tammy and the Declaration of Independence Art by Duy Truong and Nour Hassan.
Alfred said, This is terrible. They are going to ignore one another! We must do something! Then one of the officers broke rank and ran up to the minutemen shouting, Lay down your arms you darned rebels! Captain Parker could see it was a gesture meant to entice them into shooting at him. The seven hundred Regulars would wipe out the mere eighty minutemen quickly. It would be suicidal to fire. He told his men to lay down their arms and go home. Some began to turn. Others did not hear the command of his weakened voice.
It was over.
I had failed....
Suddenly a shot rang out of nowhereor was it a strange popping sound? Then minutemen picked up their muskets and the Regulars began firing. Both sides were firing at one another and smoke filled the air. Soldiers on both sides began dropping to the ground. Pandemonium was the order of the day.

Wonderful work. I am always struck by the difference in the color of the uniforms...reinforces the differences between the professional army of the British and the less expensive, less trained, tones of those of the new country.

Great illustration, Reynold. Children do need to know how this country came to be and the sacrifices that were - and are still being- made...LF

I agree Bonnie, History can be fun. Freedom is what this series is about. How is it won? how is it lost?

Excellent work. I Think this work is not exactly appropriate for Children, but it is an fantastic artwork scene. L
