Description
Art by Duy Truong. Cedric and Zeke raced Polly down the line with dozens of hawk riders trailing behind. They bumped heads with the rock and chain that has been so successful with the scarecrows. Soldiers tumbled from their horses like rows of dominoes.
This went on for nearly two hours and I raised a blue flag. Confederates shouted down the embankment to the defeated enemy, "Throw down your weapons and ye lives will be spared!" There was little hesitation. Weapons dropped to the ground with a clatter.
Our men moved the frontal barrier aside and the defeated Austrians walked through it. We led them to a meadow and had them sit. William Tell told me that Duke Leopold had not made it to the barrier. He and a few men were in the rear and were not caught in the trap. "When Duke Leopold saw that we had trapped his men, he ran like scared rabbit." He laughed.
Yberg said, "He is probably half way back across the border by now!"

What delightful and extraordinary skills you have, Reynold! :) LF
Reynold Jay replied:
Thank you, the skills belong to DUY. I'm simply skillful enough to have her working with me.

I just can't believe how all of the little details can be so wonderfully captured in water color. Everything from the light reflecting off of armor and helmets, to the partially submerged figures battling away in the water. Wow.

Way to go, Reynold & Duy! You've made even the heat of battle seem appealing (perhaps due to our heroic little friends hovering aloft and reflecting horror along with genuine sympathy)--another classic illustration! Hold steady till spring--springs forth tomorrow...Joe
Reynold Jay replied:
Hi Joseph--Thank you for you wonderful comment ( and all your inspiring comments over the last year.)

jay this scene is so detailed and busy at the same time. A painted battle scene must have taken what seemed like forever to complete...l/f/t/fb
Reynold Jay replied:
YEs, Chris, It was a lot of time to do this. There have been several paintings done centuries ago that show this battle.
Darrell MacIver
This is quite the battle scene. Very well done.
Reynold Jay replied:
I will admit this is a busy, busy piece of art. It was quite a battle. Thank you Darrell.
