Description
The Wurtherington Diary: The Little Doll Girl. Art by Nour Hassan and Duy Truong.
He took my hand and shook it. "It's called the Tammy handshake." I returned the shake and gave him a warm embrace.
The war machines were an important part of the plan. The Hoarggs worked side-by-side with the villagers that flew in and out of the forest daily. After the first few days a tent city was erected as many of the workers felt they could better spend their time working rather than going back and forth each day. The tents began as a scattering the first day or so and now there are thousands of tents hidden in the forest. Wives flew in to feed the hoards of workers and campfires filled the night sky every evening.
In that few had ever handled a bow and arrow many of the Hoarggs were pulled off the war machine projects on order to teach the villagers how to shoot properly. As with any undertaking like this, although it was a ragtag unit, leaders emerged as they were needed and all kind of systems developed out of necessity. There were lieutenants, captains, and generals directing and instructing the troops in basic maneuvers. It was not uncommon to see clouds of dust rising up from the marching of soldiers.
"Cover!" we heard as we walked through the forest.
We all ducked behind a tree as we could see what must have been a thousand arrows headed in our direction. We were in little danger as they passed well over our heads and landed harmlessly in the targeted area that was laid out with red flags.
