Dear Diary,
We had quite a party. The Hoarggs were wonderful hosts and had delightful games for the children. There were colorful decorations everywhere with balloons and ribbons strung all about. There was a dunking booth and someone from every village took part in it. The Hoarggs put on a carnival show and some dressed like clowns and were simply hilarious. I think they understood that laughter was a way to win hearts and minds, and they did. In a few hours time they erased a hundred years of mistrust and prejudice. They ended the night with a beautiful fireworks display over the river accompanied with Strauss waltzes.
It was a day I will never forget.
I was proud to be a small part of it.
And then something special happened. Alfred met a lady mouse and the two fell instantly in love. Of course they would never admit it. Time would take care of that.
"Id like you to meet Betty," he said during the fireworks show.
I shook her tiny paw. "I'm so glad to meet you. I must tell you, Betty that you are in the company of a very special mouse."
She squeaked, "I believe you are right. I 'm just starting to find that out." She batted her eyes seductively and the pair held paws while they watched the fireworks.
