Description
The Wurtherington Diary: The California Gold Rush art by Duy Truong.
On the way back to town a shot rang out. Citizens ran down the street toward the jail. I raced up to the door and ran inside. Zeke hovered over Ma Parker who was lying on the floor in a pool of blood. He looked up at me. He said, "Someone shot her from the window. There was nothing I could do. I saw that it was one of Cole's men and he ran into the Saloon."
Alfred said, "It happened in an instant. There was nothing anyone could have done. I imagine Cole's henchman was instructed to shoot Durango and when he didn't see him, he shot Ma."
I cradled Ma Parker in my arms. I could see that she was alive. I took a look at the wound that appeared to be around the shoulder. "We need a doctor!'
Someone said, "There is no doctor...."

great use of colors, especially those of robes, purple, blue and dark brown. Making the picture colorful, yet, harmonious.

On frigid days like this, Reynold, my clicks gravitate naturally to the warmth of Ma Parker's stove-warmed cell during the California Gold rush... (Funny how the observing Sheriff seems to resemble you!) Duy has imbued every character with the spark of animated life--except for the pale-faced gunshot victim. What will happen next? Tune in again for the next FAA contest for "Most Endearing Ongoing Series"...
Reynold Jay replied:
Hi Joseph. Thank you for tuning the warmer days of the California Gold Rush. It is 15 below up here in Michigan--about the same as you, I imagine.

Wonderful work, R.J.
Reynold Jay replied:
Hi Maria, Yep--poor Ma Parker was shot by a really bad guy. Good news is that she recovered!

I love this creative work. I imagine a child studying the picture and wondering how long it is going for mom to turn the page so the questions forming in their heads are answered. Just love this style of art.
