Francis Brundage was born Frances Isabelle Lockwood on June 28, 1854 in Newark, New Jersey. Her father did wood engravings, painted church murals, and portraits. She learned art from her father and sold her first professional work to Louisa Amy Alcott, an author. She is noted for her depiction of children and became one of the notable artists of her time. She did many books covers and these were often sold as postcards.
This is a Samuel Gabriel and Sons Postcard published 1912.

Oh, how very tender and exquisitely rendered. Love the feeling of this sweet image. The look on her face is just priceless! Wishing you a very peaceful Christmas Reynold.

So many years ago this is what every little girl wanted "her dolly" on Christmas. I can see this as a postcard that would be sent to some little girl at Christmas. What an adorable work. Merry Christmas to you and yours! l/f

Beautiful image of Christmas to which I can easily relate, having loved dolls in childhood (and still!). The expression of the child is so beautifully natural, and I love her shoes! Happy holidays to you, Reynold! L/F

This beautiful Chritmas card, the other ones too, carry me back to my childhood when i played with bookmarks, I had them in a beautiful wooden box, and we changed between us girls. Those angel bookmarks with glitter on their wings I treasured the best. Thanks Reynold for this trip to my childhood!
