I had the town escort all of Cole's men into the jail. One scowled, "That jail ain't gonna hold us. It doesn't have a door on the cell." By they time we wrangled them into the jail Durango showed up and I kicked him inside with the others and bolted the door.
Meanwhile the miners had erected a barricade across the street and were ready to shoot it out when Cole brought his men into town. I told them, I doubted that we would ever see Jessie Cole again as I had fifty marshals on their way and they would take care of them. I turned to Polly and said the magic words.
"Turn around three times and close your eyes
And soon you will be close to the skies.
Make that which was small,
Grow and be so very tall.
Alakazim, Alakazam!"
"Holy gold nugget!" All were amazed at seeing the largest vulture one could imagine. My deputies and I hopped on Polly and we flew a figure eight around the town.
I told Polly to tear the roof off the jail and grab the rope that I had strung there. "Up, Polly."
"Hey! What is going one here?" the prisoners shouted when we had them all trapped in a gigantic net. "Help!" It was no use, of course. In seconds we were flying high above the ground and left Coloma far behind. Beneath us were Jessie Cole's men shouting for all they were worth.
Alfred said, "Tammy, sometimes you amaze me."
