Catherine and Lucinda cackled, "I cast my final spell; and bring forth the korgoyle, from the pits of hell." This was the moment of the prophesy.
I signaled Cedric and a few of his comrades to do the prearranged task. They flew out onto the field with kerosene lamps and dropped them between me and the korgoyle that was sure to arrive. I wanted the korgoyle to focus on me and the lights would do it. It was much like an arrow pointing the way to the dinner, and I was it.
The ground shook as though an earthquake has struck and the earth opened up. A winged korgoyle crawled out and looked for the order. "Kill the girl!" they ordered and pointed to me standing there with my sword raised for battle. How could a little girl from Ohio kill a korgoyle? It must have been a hundred times larger than an elephant and I was but a speck of dust next to it. Hoargg soldiers must have had their doubts about all of this. From the rear flank they began to move forward to protect me. The korgoyle let out a volley of flame and fortunately I was out of reach. I could feel the heat of it and stepped back.
I shouted over my shoulder, "This is my battle. I want no one to come out here!" The Hoargg stepped back. I knew they would never turn and run. They would die first. They were too close. "Go back now to the tree line!" I shouted above the roar of the driving rain. Lightning flashed continuously now and the darkened landscape lit up as though it were daylight. I brushed the rain from my eyes and listened....
