Description
The Wurtherington Diary: Tammy meets Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves: Art by Tenda Spencer.
"Come with me," said Balthazar. "You will be safe here." We mounted the scorpion and were led to innocent appearing piece of ground. Suddenly the desert floor trembled and a enormous monolithic structure jutted from below and pushed upward to the sky. Zeke and Cedric clutched my knees shivering in terror. Balthazar smiled, apparently amused. "You have nothing to fear."
An enormous arched doorway appeared at the base and the scorpion took us inside. It closed behind us as if by magic and then we could feel the structure descending deep within the Earth. We stopped moving downward and then the door opened up to reveal a long corridor that led us even further beneath the surface. The narrow tunnel opened up to reveal an underground city of immense proportions. There was a vast labyrinth of tunnels and pathways with elves scurrying all about. Strange creatures were everywhere going this way and that. Scorpions appeared to be a part of it all as they were busy hauling carts and carrying rocks while elves sat in small houses affixed to their backs. In the center of the cavern was a pyramid the size of a mountain with lights that searched the ceiling.
