Description
Art by Duy Truong, Here is the legendary William F. Cody at the age of 14 when he joined the Pony Express.
...............................Deke said, "Our horses are the very fastest the world has ever known. If anyone here is running their route and sees unfriendly Indians, your official duty is to run like the devil. That is your best defense. You have been given a gun and a Bible. I would say it is best to pray and run. Shoot only if you must."
Cody said, "That is good advice, Deke."
Clint brought out a fresh mustang and gave the reigns to Cody. "This is Powder Face," said Cody. "Say hello to our friends, Powder Face." Powder Face gave us a curtsy and whinnied. The first rider raced into the yard.
Deke shouted, "Rider comin' in!"
Cody hopped on Powder Face.He grabbed the mochila from the rider, and then raced westward with the first Pony Express mail.
Zeke said, "We are seeing history here, Tammy."
"Yes, Zeke," I said. "We certainly are."

Had to look at this art piece since my Mom insists we're related to him or possibly Wild Bill Hickock! Not really sure and have heard it said you can't always trust your mother! L,F,Tw
