Zeke liked the idea. "I'm hungry," he said. "Maybe we can beg for some scraps to eat."
Cedric sniffed the air. "I smell something good cooking back there."
We knocked on the back door and an older woman answered. I had told my associates to look a bit forlorn and hungry. "Pardon me, mum." I said. "My pets are hungry and I have no food." She looked at the forlorn mammals that had their tongues hanging out. Zeke went a little too far and acted like he was passing out and fell to the ground gasping for water. "Water! Water! I must have water...."
Cedric did well. He fanned Zeke with his feathered hat while he cradled his friend in his arms. He looked up to the lady with the saddest eyes. "I don't think he is going to make it, mum."
It was a lot to take in--talking mammals begging for a handout at the back door, one apparently near death. I kept a straight face as best I could and gave her my own forlorn look. "I am sorry to have bothered you, mum. Come on boys. We'll find some food soon." I began to gather them up and walk away.
"Wait!" she said. "Oh lord--I must help you poor little ones. Come in and I'll rustle up some food for all of you."
"Thank you, mum. God bless you." I said. "We won't stay long as we would not want to impose."
"Land's sake child; it is no trouble at all." She began serving us beef-stew at a dining table in a dining area just behind the office where General Gage could be heard giving orders. We all introduced ourselves. She said, "I'm Mrs. Gage, the general's wife. You can call me Margaret." She stood near the door which was open just a crack so we could all hear her husband in the office.

Reynold, Awesome work!...Congrats on your sale!!
Reynold Jay replied:
Thank you, Chrisann. The sale is welcome and unexpected. It is nice to see a sale like this long before the release of the books. Duy, the artist says she feels like a kid who received an A+ from the teacher! She deserves it.
